We have volunteered at national forest parks and are currently working for a concessionaire at a forest park. We have accepted checks at both places. As a volunteer we didn't have access to the funds - the forest service had the keys and collected. As an employee of a concessionaire and manager of the park, we collect from the fee tube. Checks are deposited in the bank along with the cash and are stamped "for deposit only with the concessionaire bank account #". Those tubes are not easy to break into, so your cash is pretty safe in them.
