X2 for Hovenweep National Monument. Off the beaten path east of Blanding on Utah/Colorado border when you're heading toward Monument Valley/4 Corners area. Much smaller site, yet equally fascinating as Mesa Verde in its own way.

Be sure to check out some of the Utah State Parks in the area. Dead Horse Point, Kodachrome Basin & Goblin Valley are all worth a visit.

As long as you are into April for Zion (when the shuttles are running) the parking won't be bad, however since they start on April 1st, the last couple of weeks in March are a madhouse. Almost no parking anywhere along the Zion Canyon road.

And don't pass up Capitol Reef! Not a fan of Zion River RV Park (ethics issue).

April is a busy time in Moab and Zion. It's the perfect weather and everybody knows it. You might find reservations tough to get at the more desirable CG's. Bryce can still be cool with even occasional snow showers in early to mid April, just depending on the year. At least Jeep Safari week in Moab is at the end of March this year, so that shouldn't be a problem for you. I usually try to get a couple of weeks of camping at Moab in April and May.

April 16 through 24 is free National Parks week It will be busy, we forgot about it one year and we had to boondock one night as the NP.Cg.were full, we do a lot of boondocking so that was no problem for us. click

April in Moab is great. That is the time of Jeep Week. At the higher altitudes it can snow. At really high altitudes like Bryce it can snow a lot in April and for sure turn very cold. We went to Zion in mid May a few years back and it was cold rainy and light snow. So be mindful of altitude in April.

We spent a few weeks this fall at both Arches NP and Canyonlands NP. Both are spectacular. If you camp in the parks they are both dry camping. Fill up your tanks before entering, no water available. empty your holding tanks before entering. Make reservations before you go. Great trip!!!
