Rocmoc, your suggestion won the lottery. We used those coordinates to explore using Google Earth, and were able to drive right to that canyon. It was absolutely gorgeous! It is obvious from the rock formations that this area is an extension of the geology in the Valley of Fire park. So the experience is similar to what dispersed camping in the VoF would be like.
The area is a popular ATV area called Logandale Trails, so you cannot expect solitude, and on a holiday weekend it was very busy. But most of the crowd were day riders and it was quiet in the mornings and at night. Most of the riders didn't get started until midday.
Sorry I'm late on the previous question, but our big Labrador was off leash the entire time at camp. There are plenty of places where you can pull your trailer away from the road a comfortable distance.
We had a great time. Highly recommended!
