Video TR: Lake Mead & Valley of Fire, Nevada

The third and final video installment of our trip earlier this month across the Southwestern deserts, camped at Lake Mead and hiking at nearby Valley of Fire State Park, is now up on YouTube:

Enjoy!

This was a wonderful boondocking spot with easy access to the water. You only need to pay the $20 for 7-day admission to the Lake Mead National Recreation Area (free with an America the Beautiful pass), within which this site at Stevens Point is located. It can accommodate any size rig, from teardrop to Class A with large flat sites. And as you can see from the video, the scenery is nothing short of stunning.

If you like the video, please subscribe so you catch all of our future episodes! Feel free to post any questions about the location and I'll do my best to answer them.

    Gorgeous photo!

If allowed, the Fire Wave would be a good place to fly your drone and take pictures.

Alas, no. Nevada State Parks have a strict no-drone policy.

    There's another one?

Heck, I am off but a few hundred miles. Not bad for my GPS. :B
Glad the OP new what I was talking about.

I don't think the park extends into Arizona.
  • Thanks, rv2go! We definitely saw a lot more of the park than is seen in the video -- if we included everything we shot it would've been an hour video. ;) However, we didn't find out about Fire Wave until after we left. Oh, well...that gives us something to look forward to for our next visit!
  • The Valley of Fire State Park is one of my favorite places to visit in AZ. Sure hope you got to see more of it than your video. Did you hike out to the Fire Wave?
