Virginia State Park Campgrounds Reopening On May 22

Today’s announcement:
Campgrounds at Virginia State Parks are set to reopen May 22.
. . .
Reservations for camping between May 21 and June 10 will be accepted beginning May 14. All other overnight facilities remain closed at this time including cabins, lodges and group campgrounds.

  • Starting to see more of this from states. While lock downs extend into June they are changing their minds about opening state parks for Memorial Day. A lot of people have already reserved sites at state parks and I bet states don't want to give up all the money they would have to refund. They don't want to lose money but they don't care about all the small businesses that are losing money.
  • That’s good news for Virginia, the people of Virginia, and those of us who might want to visit. Camping is one of the safest activities one can do safely if you follow the guidelines. Get out and enjoy the spring.
