Virginia State Parks and dogs

Was just looking at some Virginia State Parks since we are not too far awa from Virginia and noticed they charge you $5 per night for having a dog with you.

Kind of silly for a State Park to charge it. I can see private RV parks doing it, but not a state park.

  • why would you exclude a state park? same issues as a private campground.

  • I can see everyone charging all they can these days.

I can also recall seeing Virginia charging it's residents a extra fee (like in the $600 range) if they where speeding over a certain speed. They could not apply the same high fee to out of state residents though.

I guess if you want to take along dogs, either put it in your budget, or go someplace else. However if it is a assistance animal, it is not really a dog they can charge for.
