Wallace Creek Campground Enid ms.

Wallace creek is a popular campground especially when the weather warms up. If you're coming in on a weekend you might want to make a reservation just to be safe. During the week you should be fine. All sites are nice with concrete pads and hookups so for an overnight stop any site should be fine. There's a board at the entrance to the park showing available sites and payment instructions. You can drive through the park, choose your site and come back to pay. Cash or check only, no credit cards. If you don't make reservations there are two other parks in the area, a COE across the dam and a state park a short distance away in case Wallace is full.

You should be fine on a week day. Most sites are long enough to stay hooked up. The campground on the south side of the dam is also very nice and our choice for staying at Enid. Just drive through and check the posts they will tell you which sites are available.

I don't understand. The OP knows exactly what date he will be there, knows the desired park is popular, and then questions whether to make a reservation. It seems to me that making a reservation is prudent even if the park ends up not being filled. What am I missing?

We have issues that could change our plans at the last minute, you are right, you don't understand. To the others thanks so much for your help.

They do have some pull-thru sites. We have always been able to get a pull-thru with no reservation and have been there during spring and fall travel when the weather is nice. They do keep some sites that are not available to reserve just for people who drive in and want a spot - first come first serve. We have never been at a COE park that didn't do this. You can check the reservation tags and most times they will be for the weekend, but the site is available to whomever takes it until the reserved date. The other campground is Persimmon Hill.

Which is closer to I55, Wallace creek or Persimmon hill? Thanks for the reply.

Wallace Creek is 2 miles from exit 233, Persimmon Hill is 5.5 miles from exit 227

We looked at both of those as possible stops for this next Friday night. We then settled on Hugh White State park about 30 miles south near Grenada, MS.

The two campgrounds are fairly close together. The one at Persimmon Hill was smaller and seemed to have more families with children on the weekends.
