Washington DC area campgrounds

Where is a good campground to stay while sightseeing DC
  • Another vote for Cherry Hill Park! Bus line comes right into the park, and takes you to the Metro. Metro takes you to Capitol Mall, Smithsonian, and all the landmarks.

We did this Fourth-of-July a couple of years ago, and spent the day going through the various Museums and then watched the fireworks from the Mall. Great fireworks display and a valuable learning experience for our grand daughter.

I don't think you tried that first.

Advanced search, DC in heading, this forum.
  • Cherry Hill is imho the best choice. Was there last year and they have a shuttle service or do like I did parked the truck at the train/metro/subway whatever you call it to directly to the museums and all the exciting stuff. The parking at the train on weekends are free.
  • There is only one for convenience and that is Cherry Hill.

By the way, look at the upper left of this page and you will see a search function. Type in Washington DC campgrounds and you can read forever. This is a common question.
