Water Bladder Questions

Those of you that use a water bladder to transport your water when boondocking, after you transfer the water to your RV, do you hang up the bladder to "drain out" or just fold it up and stow it until the next use and kinda rinse it out at that time?

But wouldn't a bladder spread the weight out unlike 300# in one sq ft?

Agreed, but then you also have to factor in what the weight will be when it bounces after going over a bump in the road.

I'm not smart enough to calculate that but I'm sue that the weight increases, at least momentarily.

As I like my truck, I would not risk making a dent.

45 Gallons of water weighs right at 373 pounds. I wouldn't do it.
No more than I would I get on the roof area because I weigh 300 pounds. All you need is one spot not well supported and you have a dent.

  • Roy, I have used a plastic 55 gallon drum for my water replacement, but got tired of hauling the empty drum around while traveling. Camping World offers a 45 gallon bladder but I got on the net and found a 75 gallon bladder. It was just delivered and it doesn't weigh very much and is compact when folded and stowed.
  • Good topic...I need to carry more water for my Palomino Bronco Truck Camper. Are bladders what folks are using? Where do you carry them and how much water do you carry?

Where do you get a water bladder?
