I spent a month at Clute a couple years ago. It's a glorified parking lot but, if I had any plans to go to NY again, I'd go back just for the location. There is a lakefront park across the street. It's right on the Finger Lakes Trail. It's an easy walk into town.
We stayed at Clute for a week this September - great location you can walk to Walmart. I will stay there again - we enjoyed the full hook ups and cable
The KOA was about 5 miles out of town and looked nice but it was gated and I could not drive into the park
