Watkins Glen, NY which campground to choose for next summer

Stayed at the Glen lots of times but never during a race weekend. There's been plenty of partying/noise and no rangers around. Complaining the next day never helped. Then there's been quiet, more times then noise. The restrooms are sometimes filthy and sometimes clean. Might be a function of the crowd that's there. That said the beauty of the woods, the trails, the gorge, the pool beats all the cons. As far as town, if you are in shape nothing to prevent trekking down the hill to town and that long way back up.
