For Florida Snowbirds how do you go about choosing a site where you will be bound to, for months at a time.You can assume safety, warmth, and cleanliness is a priority, but what else is it that you highly value.

Although we "Snowbird" in Southern California I research parks using rvparkreviews.com. I read through the reviews of each park looking for keywords; clean, quiet, large spaces, safe, nice staff...etc. If there are a lot of negative reviews I immediately move to the next park on the list.If a park sounds good I go on their website to see what amenities they have and I look on Google maps ("Earth view") to zoom in and get an overview of the park layout. This also helps to see what is nearby; lakes, rivers, ocean, restaurants, towns...etc

If this is your first time going for 'months at a time', I wouldn't go to one specific park. I'd try different parks, different areas, different states.

Two things are a must for my wife and myself.1. Must not be too far from water, since we are canoers and kayakers2. Must be in a climate that we know is going to stay warm. That is why we pick Key Largo. Any place above south Florida is liable to have frost now and then, even though the snow birds that stay up around Ocala won't admit it Key Largo gives us access to the Everglades National Park (one hour away) and all of the Keys (the Atlantic side and the Florida Bay side)Jack L

You would very likely be moving around a lot in the transient sections..week here week there.

Tucson has had gorgeous weather but today is windy. It always returns to gorgeous though. :) Enjoy your stay. Take a day trip over to Benson and tour Kartchner Caverns, Tombstone and Bisbee. The mine tour in Bisbee is a neat experience given by former miners.

I will admit price is also important for us. Not everyone who snow-birds can afford $800, $1000 or more a month.

But then we're not looking for all kinds of amenities either. We don't care about the ocean or fishing or golfing or a fancy clubhouse. Just a clean quiet CG off the beaten path with nice everyday people to spend the winter with. We have found this for $220 a month in a small private place in the Ocala National Forest. There is another place for $100 more a month just down the road where we spent last winter. If people have to budget and the ocean and all kinds of amenities are not necessary, all they need do is look for these less expensive places.

This is our first year as snowbirds. We looked around at different parts of Arizona, and stayed at a few different campgrounds.

We found an area we really like, and a nice looking campground with interesting activities. We talked to several people who had stayed there for a few winters. The people were friendly, and recommended the park very highly.

We looked for (in no particular order): good location; nice, happy people; variety of things to do at the park, and in the community; well-maintained park; and of course, price.

I like that, but unfortunately where camping used to be for people, it has now gone to the dogs

in to check the place out was "No dogs allowed" Have been coming back for
