- 1stgenfarmboyExplorerThe CG's we have enjoyed the most have been in a National Park setting and usually without hook-ups, I think almost all CG's can be nice, but it all depends on the people that are camping by you.
I guess I'm saying that people can make or break a camping experience.
Dar - 1stgenfarmboyExplorerA nice wooded CG also with some large open grassy spots for running and playing kids/dogs, A posted quiet time that is enforced, clean and tidy bath houses/bath rooms, a well stocked camp store, add a couple bucks to the nightly rate but offer free fire wood, access to water for kayaking/fishing and hiking trails.
I know this is a fantasy but some folks like to visit and make new friends and play the radio, and some want quiet and solitude, it would be nice to have two sections with a little distance between them for the two types of campers.
I know that's a pretty long list of near impossible wants. - Pawz4meExplorerLocation, location, location.
The only reason we go back to a campground again and again is if there's something in the area we enjoy doing. Hopefully the campground itself is nice, but we're much more interested in what there is to do and see in the area. Hanging around a campground 24/7 is not our idea of fun. - travelnutzExplorer IIljr etc,
We like kids a lot and sometimes take a grandchild along, and they are well supervised, but undiciplined kids quickly ruin about any CG experience and so do unleashed or aggressive dogs. Heck, so do loud drunks etc after midnight. Diciplined kids are still kids as they should be allowed to be. There are lots of places for kids to be loud and running wild but a CG is not one of those places! A CG is not a babysitter for people's kids! The parents are their babysitters 24/7/365. We're healthy but everyone in the CG is not healthy or a wee hour party'er or likes to hear kids constantly yelling and some might do well to keep that in mind. - ljrNomadlarge, level site
reliable 50A power
decent water at reasonable pressure
open enough for satellite dish
lots of places for my dog and I to hike
no loose dogs
no totally out-of-control kids (A little out-of-control is ok. They are kids after all.) - mdamerellExplorerDifferent people have different needs. While I'd enjoy being backed up to a lake and privacy, it's not always the best option for us. I am exploring a trip to the Gulf Coast and a site on the Gulf.
Due to health issues we need 50 amp. Since we are also raising a grandchild the playground, pool and hot tub (for medical, as well personal enjoyment)are things we look for. We joined a "resort" to find these things and enjoys our "campground friends" and events.
We have taken a ride through one of the local state campgrounds and they are as crowded as our resort and the walking required would be a deal breaker due to health issues. The trees and tight turns are also an issue. Pretty much all we saw there were TT's in the 25' variety, TC's and tents. The local city CG we got into but were very limited with options. - donn0128Explorer IILocation, location, location.
You could be selling the nicest campground in the nation and unless the location is where I want to be I would not visit you.
We choose camp grounds based on access to the activities we want to do at that particular time, and also how secluded it is to other campers. Parking lots are not my idea of camping. Unless of course I am working in the area and only want a place to sleep. One of the reasons I do not frequent WalMart parking lots. - VeebyesExplorer IIDon't want a pool, putt putt golf or any of that stuff. Decent site separation, a few trees, good WIFI & maybe cable keeps us happy. Depends on the area too. A COE or SP will always be first priority if available.

Don't want or need a pool or sauna, a kids playground, a recreation building, planned or structured activities programs etc. Having been on the board of directors of a very large RV CG and Resort for 9 years, I know that these things are more than half the yearly cost of operating a CG and also that the CG insurance premiums skyrockets! We don't want to pay about double the CG stay fee for having things we would never use or want! We live in the finest of Gods country location and RV travel a lot so we know precisely why we will always live where we do. Fun to see so many other places as we do and it sure makes us appreciate and be so very thankful for what we really have right at home! - Shadow_CatcherExplorerOur favorite camp site is Agawa Bay Lake Superior Provincial Park. The park is best seen by canoe, much of it very wild. We often wake up to the sound of loons (and I don't mean other campers). We first started camping there when there were only out houses and we had to bathe in Lake Superior Showers are nice particularly ho ones but all that stuff is secondary.
