I have been a road warrior since the 1960s. Camping has been a way of life and I also had an outdoor career. Yellowstone NP especially around Sept 20 during the elk rut, or late in May when the babies are around is hard to beat. You can have it in the summer. Most of the NPs are too crowded in the peak times to be really enjoyable. The only time I will go to Yosemite again is in the winter.
