How old are the kids? Are they use to riding for long hours and then staying in the RV or going right to sleep? I wouldn't suggest letting them play in a parking lot or turning them loose in a store to burn off energy. Most campgrounds/RV parks even those that do not have a designated playground have enough space somewhere out of traffic that kids can play. Check the free campsites website and the ultimate public campgrounds project for city parks along your route that allow overnight stays. Many are very low cost or free and a lot more kid friendly than a parking lot or truck stop.
14 and 16 so no, they won't need to be running off any pent up energy. We've been roadtrippers since they were infants, so they have been conditioned to long car rides :) Thanks for the links! That might be exactly what I'm needing and looking for.
