Free?
Santa Fe RV campground in Chanute is free the first two nights, nominal daily fees afterward (I think $10 now), but the name says it all.
Walter Johnson Park in Coffeyville is $8 a night W/E in the Woods CG, $15 full hookup in the Rivercrest CG (that name is also significant). Woods CG was a better deal 10 years ago at $3, but now they have to pay for rebuilding everything after the flood.
Wichita Bend RV Park in Wichita Falls was $5 W/E last time I stayed, but it has been a while, so the price may have gone up.
Cherryvale, Kansas had a low-cost ($5?) municipal RV park, but I think it closed after the highway was realigned to bypass the community and a commercial RV park opened a few miles down the road.
There are lots of these little free or low-cost city or county campgrounds and RV parks across the agricultural middle of the country, they serve the needs of people who have to come in to work with the planting and harvesting. We had one in our town that went from $3 a night to $5 a night before it was permanently closed, for law enforcement reasons.
But nothing like Stuart's deal at the casino: they pay you to stay there?
