Maybe you're younger, or outdoorsy, or something along those lines. I am not so outdoorsy and no longer quite so young. I like the outdoors, but due to physical limitations I can't be in it forever. Allergies, asthma, those kinds of things keep me from enjoying it too much. And when I was younger, we tented, we actually "camped" a lot of places. We pulled a popup for 5 years, then a 25 foot RV, then a bigger RV, and then gas hit $4 a gallon.
But not having a lot of time limited our options, and one can't "boondock" easily in Minnesota in the wintertime, so that further limits my camping options.
The other factor is my wife. She also has limitations and so we don't tow a camper anymore, matter of fact we own property up in North Central Minnesota that we go to. I don't tow anymore although I really do miss traveling. We'll go south and explore some more next year (I hope).
Obviously I'm not the normal member here who travels and camps. I don't enjoy boondocking as much as others might, and that's fine.
It's never been weird, it's just not for me. Mostly, who am I to judge how others live their lives? It's not MY money they're spending.
