This discussion, like so many others in these forums is mostly made up of folks stating ... and usually defending ... their cast-in-concrete personal opinions or preferences. I'm of course guilty of participating this way too.
However, it seems like another purpose of discussions like these should be to maybe learn from others so as to come away with thoughts of changing your personal opinions or preferences or actions a bit after thinking about what others have said and/or what others are doing.
IAW those with an open mind who, coming into the discussion, "liked to camp a certain way" ... might want to consider try camping another way based on what they're reading.
After thinking about it ... maybe the OP has a point about use of our expensive, and usually delivered as self-contained ... Recreational Vehicles. Maybe some of us should venture out and try using our RVs in new-to-us ways. We just might surprise ourselves and begin to enjoy it! :)
