Sure seems that way by my observation.
Here in Michigan, there's lots of public land but it's very heavily forested ... With the right equipment, like a Subaru and a tent, there's plenty of camping spots. Towing a trailer, not so much. Truck campers maybe in-between?
I've spent plenty of miles scouting forests trails for trailer accessible spots, they're not as common as some believe. I don't think I'm alone in my feeling, the sites I have found I don't dare put online :)
Out west, not many trees in the way.
