75 a night is a bargain. There's a Class A only concrete resort North of me, 7 day minimum $2000 or so I've been told. The luxury sites have a golf course view, the premium seasonal sites have a view of Lake Michigan.
I guess folks can tell themselves that's camping, I just don't understand.
It doesn't matter what anyone calls it. Does it bother you that people stay there? If not, then no big deal. If it bothers you like it bothers the OP, then you might want to figure out why - because I suspect it's more about one's self than it is about the other people.
Well, nice suspicion--but 1000% incorrect. When you get priced out/crowded out of someplace you'd like to be, it IS, in fact, about other people. Don't pitch a thinly veiled insult by implying that there's a need to "figure out why."
In general, I don't think the facilities, amenities, and privileges of American society should only be made available to the rich, but if there's one activity that should be available to all, it's camping. But many of the posts on myriad threads here highlight the fact that it really isn't a poor man's recreation any more. You wanna camp, you gotta pay. Big time.
And the situation wouldn't exist if those people said, "$75 to park on a concrete slab for one night?? That's ridiculous! I won't be ripped off!" and kept moving on down the road.
