when is the best time to go to yellowstone national park

I used to live in the area.
Hot, honestly hot? Sometimes, others.... well one July 4th weekend we had a snowball fight made from snow that had fallen the night before

But I prefer the "non-Touron" season, that is spring and fall. Never "over the holidays" in winter and never from July to August.
