I have been to Yellowstone many times and at all times of the year.
It has never been what I would call hot. July and August have average highs in the 75°F range. Lows in the 40°F range. Most of the time had to turn on the furnace in the mornings.
I prefer late June as most of the snow is gone and the young animals are out and about.
