Where can I camp next to a beautiful lake or river?

I often see photos of people camping within 40 feet of a beautiful fishing lake nestled in the mountains or a gentle stream running a dozen yards from their front doors, but I don't know where to actu...

Corps of Engineers parks. www.recreation.gov
Not in the mountains but on lakes:
R Shaefer Heard in West Point GA. Some sites right on the water, banks not too sloped.
Twiltley Branch COE park in Okatibbee MS.
Burns Run East on Lake Texoma in OK. New sites on the water full hookups sites 28-39 on the lake.
