  • PA members get 50% off at Jolly Roger Travel Park in Marathon for any 5 days in a 6 month period. That's where we'll be staying next time we head down that way. Just those 5 days will pay for a 3 year PA membership and then some.
  • You can also check rvparkreviews.com . We stayed at the Encore park last time but the sites are super tight and people have so many tents etc on their sites that their cars are on the road making it difficult to leave if you are not there for the season.
  • Did you search this Forum for `Key West' in the RV Parks section?
  • We like Boyd's in KW. I have never found the sites to be any smaller than any of the other Keys campgrounds. Sure, they have some that are smaller and some that are larger like most others. It is all about location to us. From Boyd's you can take a taxi or a bus into downtown KW. Some parts of downtown KW, most of it actually, is somewhat "adult" oriented. If I just want to be in the Keys, then we have stayed at others farther out of town, such as the KOA. Geiger Marina and RV is a fun place as well, a bit more rustic and old Florida but a good place to stay and eat. We have never had any luck getting into the state parks down on the Keys but they do look good when driving by.

As mentioned above, everything in the Keys is expensive. Some forum members will chime in I am sure, and tell you Boyd's isn't on Key West. But Key West is the name of the town and of a specific key. The town takes in more than one key, including Stock Island, which is where Boyd's is located with a Key West address on their mail address. A somewhat meaningless argument to me. We like to spend Thanksgiving and around Spring Break in the lower Keys.
  • My in laws recommended just recently to maybe stay some where midway down the keys as a home base. They said there are so many different places along all the keys that you don't wanna miss.

I had been thinking about blue water before that, but may need to change my mind. State parks are difficult to geti not, but they also don't offer the amenities that private parks will. Also depend a on your budget. Some place like blue water will be over $100/night while others will be less and even half.

We have been talking about going down this next year, but wife mentioned last night that she would love to go back to Destin also.
  • Should have added that there are no inexpensive places to stay in the Key West area unless you are eligible for a site at the Navy base. Bite the bullet and go, it is a unique experience.
  • Key West, If it fits your budget, I would try for a site a Blue Water Key RV Resort. Blue Water Key It is at mile marker 14.5 north of Key West. Easy drive to town with the toad. Boyd's in town has tight sites and will only be about $ 30 a day less expensive. Be aware the tax added to all sites was 11%. It is less than a days drive from Miami area to Key West.
  • Bluewater Key RV is the best. They are all expensive, why not stay at the best.
