If you have to get out of Dallas Metro on Friday evenings, you have a real problem. Been there; done that; never again! But then we are retired so schedules are not set like for worker bees.
I don't know what your home parking situation is, but could you load everything on Friday night after work, then wait to leave VERY early on Saturday morning (thinking 4 AM)?? That puts you into the CG when walk-ups may still be available. You stay Saturday night and then get home on Sunday before the PM rush starts
(For those of you who haven't experienced Dallas, there IS a PM rush, even on Sunday.)
Could be worse---could be an Austin traffic jam;)
I'm assuming that there's a drop dead time of day for checking into parks. We can't roll up to a park at midnight, check in, and start setting up. We either have to take a half day off work to get out of here before rush hour, or we have to wait till Saturday.
We can't park it at home because it's too big. I mean, Chinooks are not big but Dallas lots are especially small. Anyway, we have parking about 20 minutes (non-rush hour) away...not as good but not too bad.
We were actually thinking about leaving at 8 PM Friday night, driving till we needed to stop, locating a Wal Mart or rest stop, and overnighting it there. We'd only need a day at a park and most of the state parks require 2 day minimum.
What is the rationale with the 2 day minimum?
