Since you opened up lakes, consider Devil's Fork SP on Lake Jocassee. Even this late in the season, you should be able to grab something during the week. At only 1.5 hours from Asheville, it would be real easy on the driver.
Another consideration closer by would be Cascade Lakes Recreation Area near Brevard. You can rent canoes, go spend a day at Sliding Rock, take some short hikes in Dupont Forest, or just relax.
For Myrtle Beach you could try Ocean Lakes. Just checked the reservation system and they still have plenty of sites available. Would be extremely busy, but they do have lots to do in the CG.
