I think I would line up with the naysayers on this one. While some parks are in locations like this, they do not appeal to most "people" persons. The activities are more likely to be ones in which you participate alone (hiking, biking birdwatching, etc.), with your spouse, or in small card table groups. In addition to long commutes to the many things to do in Fort Myers and more southerly locations like Naples, your options are limited.
In a park like IBE, for example, you have more than 80 different activities. You can still do the solitary stuff, but at least here you have options; AND you're very close to the beach! Not so out in the boonies.
This might be a very long 4-5 months for this poster. My advise would be to pick a park somewhere between Fort Myers and Naples for one month and explore the area. Visit the people in the various parks as well as the park's amenities, for it will be the people that ultimately make your stay the one you are seeking. Who knows? that just might be the park you've chosen, but I doubt it.
