Several years ago we stayed a month in LaBelle with friends who had recommended the small park where they stayed every winter. There are things to do in the area but you will have to look for them. We spent Saturday mornings at the Hispanic market in one of the parks. We purchased our veggies and fruits there.
On Friday nights we went to the VFW for a fish fry. In February there is a Swamp Cabbage Festival in downtown.
My husband was starting his woodcarving hobby and he carved with 2 other men.
The Ortona Fire Department has a great barbecue-bring your own chairs.
Mostly you will need to entertain yourself. Some prefer that but we don't. We don't need a lot of activities but we do like to get with others occasionally.
