Should not be an issue, the parking lot is pretty big and a through the week visit even in the summer, should not be crowded.
keep in mind that while you can peruse the area, the Whitefish Shipwreck Museum isn't free. It has a hefty admission fee.
I worked on the Edmund Fitzgerald as a fitter many. many years ago, back in my Longshoreman days.
One thing to also keep in mind is, the drive up to the museum is 2 lane and it's narrow and no place to pull off until you get to the point. It's all residential with many drives so pay attention.
Not sure, but I don't believe overnight parking is allowed in the museum parking area. Could be wrong about that, not sure. Lots of places (campgrounds) up that way though. Trout Lake is a nice one.
Have fun, lots of history up that way and Lake Superior is very COLD so don't go swimming unless you want to freeze.
