I have read with interest and see lots of complaints about not being able to get sites in the four state parks in the Florida Keys, and I can give you one of the reasons why:
Take a stroll through any one of them or all of them and see the cheaters that lie about the length of their rigs.
At least fifty percent if not more don't belong in the sites they are in and the park rangers do absolutely nothing about it
If the lengths were monitored a bit, there would be a lot more spaces available for rigs that fit them.

I'm coming a bit late to this party (thread), but here goes:
Unfortunately, ReserveAmerica has done a major disservice to those of us who utilize the FL state campgrounds reservation site by listing unreasonably short "limits" on many of the sites.
We talked with a half dozen cg personnel this winter who told us that RA arbitrarily reduced the site size "limit" (which is really just a recommendation, btw, and not a hard and fast rule) on many of their sites.
They've also shortened "limits" on some sites just because they're not as easy to get to for some larger rigs.
I do agree that no one should be allowed to park into the roadway or on the grass, and I DO wish park personnel would put more effort into enforcing this rule for safety's sake.
However, I'm offended at being called a "cheater" if we park our 42' camper in a 60+ foot-long site that RA has, for no valid reason, listed as having a 40' limit.
