We've done the same thing for years. It beats dragging the rig all the way home, just to turn around and drag it back again.
I would recommend that you find an RV park that offers storage in the general area that you want to leave it. Also, plan on winterizing it since even South Carolina is subject to some pretty cold weather at times.
