Wisconsin Campgrounds

X2 for Country Roads RV Park near the Dells. Geared more for adults, children must be accompanied by adults away from campsites. Just, just outside the edge of the tourest area. Have been there 3 times now and all visits have been good.

Devil's Lake is the second-most popular SP in Wisconsin, I believe - or perhaps even the first. And Door County is a big vacation spot for weekenders and weekly stays, both. If hookups are required, or even just desired, I don't think I'd chance it w/o reservations. But then, that's just me.

Lots of choices in/near the Dells and pretty many for Door County. Not so much for Milwaukee. Another SP that would be closer than Kohler-Andrae for MKE would be Harrington Beach. We never got to stay there before we moved, as it was converted from day-use to camping only a year or so before that. It's between K-A and Milwaukee, but still a good distance north of the city.

Stand Rock in the dells. Door county in Baileys Harbor check out Baileys Grove, small campground but very nice and also a good Sam park.

It is really hard to find state park campgrounds that don't have every weekend booked already. We try and camp on Sunday nights and Mondays.

To me it is a great park I have a 35' fifthwheel had no problem with sites.

Yikes. This is more or less camping for an event at the State Fair grounds. There is nothing else near by that warrants staying here unless you're just there for a couple nights stay and will be out all day.


And the State Park campsites do indeed fill up their power sites EXTREMELY fast. We've learned to book 10-12 months ahead of time, but I think this is true for most CG's if you want preferred sites.

No it's not.

I found out about staying at Fair Ground CG's by accident when I broke down. Local police escorted me off the road to what I thought would be a parking lot which turned out to be the Fair Grounds for the night to safely wait for repair!

I was surprised when I pulled in and saw about 6 Class A's already parked there. It cost me a whole $7.00 for full hookups! :C

All Fair Ground CG's are open to the public all year around. And most towns always have one. They are quiet, nice, and really inexpensive. IMHO Hidden gems. I try and find them all the time in my travels now.

Des Moines Iowa Fair Grounds CG being the nicest I have stayed at. On top of a hill overlooking the gold capped capitol. 1,000 sites and there was only me and 4 other RV's that weekend. I liked it so much I ended up staying over a week! :C

Of course the ONLY time you would NOT want to stay there is during their County Fair! And bottom line you wouldn't be able to get in anyway they would be full up.

I have made all my reservations for June at Lazy Days in West Bend, Stand Rock at the Dells, and Egg Harbor CG in Door County. (Peninsula SP was full). Many thanks for your suggestions. Every person I talked to in making my reservations was really nice and helpful. Happy camping everyone!
