I thought we had everything planned for our trip to Yellowstone. Then we discovered the south entrance won't open until 2 days after our arrival.Had then planned to use the east entrance but was convinced that the west entrance would be better.I have researched campgrounds on the route from Rock Springs to Alpine and in between. But campground reviews seem to be pretty poor for the commercial campground and not sure if Forest Service or BLM campsites will be open May 10th. Any suggestions?
There's a KOA just south of Jackson between it and Alpine Junction. Not sure of the campgrounds along the Snake River corridor. You can google the Forest Service district then find out on line if they'll be open.
If you decide to go up Hwy 26 through Swan Valley, there's some RV parks there and if you go up through Hwy 20, there are several RV parks along that corridor. Check out
www.rvparkreviews.com. We've stayed at Red Rock and they are nice. Their site says they open May, 2016, but no specific date listed. Also check if the KOA's in West Yellowstone will be open; Grizzly RV in town, or better yet, Baker's Hole just 2 miles north of town - and worth it!
