ah.. used to camp at Jumbo Rocks when I was a teenie-bopper
What's going on up there? The crowds are all over the news
National Parks had their 100 year Centennial in 2016. Whole lot of folks that come down here to snowbird to see Death Valley and Joshua Tree this time of year. Very busy when it's comfortable there, unlike the summer season when it's flat out blazing hot, no escape from the heat. - SCVJeffExplorerah.. used to camp at Jumbo Rocks when I was a teenie-bopper

Joshua Tree NP. That area you pass on your left when you get into Palm Desert. ;-)
We always arrive at least a day early. If you have to drive through town on Friday afternoon/ sat morn it ain't no fun. The offramps look like the 405 at rush hour except it's all RV's.
What's JT? - NinerBikesExplorer

Record crowds at JT this week, should quiet down after New Years but suggest you arrive mid week, campsites might be limited.
Thanks SCVJeff. We are going to Rincon next week with retired co-workers. I hope to interest them in a trip to Quartzsite and Joshua Tree. The DW want to go if we go as a group this year.
Will verify the record crowds at Joshua Tree. Went there Thursday to do a National Parks On The Air ham radio activation, and the line to leave the park at 3:30 pm was stupendously long. - NinerBikesExplorer

What's JT? - DAS26milesExplorer IIWe would head out to Quartzsite on Jan 23 and avoid the first weekend rush. Aah, senior moment here!
