Another cool stop is the Oregon Trail Ruts near Guernsey State Park (Guernsey, WY). We stayed at Larson Park Campground/RV Park in Guernsey for a night and we were able to see the Trail Ruts, Register Cliff and Fort Laramie National Historic Site (Fort Laramie, WY). We learned more about the Westward movement at Fort Laramie than we did in school!
We have 2 boys (8 & 10 last summer when on the trip) and they were interested enough to not be a pain while we were there. They really liked the Trail Ruts part ... it's amazing that so many wagons went through that they actually cut ruts into the rock and you can stand in them!
Agree about the bikes. We brought the boy's bikes so they could ride around the campgrounds. I think they rode them twice on a 5500 mile trip ... I wouldn't bring them next time.
