Yellowstone area campgrounds

There are three fires right now in the park. I would call a head and see if it affects your plans. 4000 acres so far.

Farmer Bob, if interested in RV parks outside of the Nat'l Park.

West Yellowstone, MT has many RV Parks with varied prices. One should be able to find a rental unit there as well. Never been there mind you, but have read may reports & suggestions from folks who have been.

Gardiner, MT just at the North Entrance by Mammoth has a few RV Parks. We have been there, but not in a RV Park. Not sure if one could find a rent car there. But Livingston, MT is about 54 miles away. Might find one there.

:C:C Cody, WY would be the most east entrance with not only Several RV Parks in the Cody area, with several rental car sites in Cody. Even a state park is near. But one would have a longer drive into Yellowstone from there.

South Entrance is near Jackson, WY & the Tetons. I'm sure there will be rental cars sites there as well.

ok, so maybe I wasn't clear or you couldn't read my mind. I was asking about cg's outside east entrance because it seemed my choices are limited inside the park.

Tentative closing dates: 2013
Fishing Bridge: 9/22
Bridge Bay: 9/2
Canyon: 9/8
Grant Village: 9/22
Madison: 10/20
Mammoth: open all year

Fishing Bridge would be the first one you see if you come from the east. It's right on Yellowstone Lake and would afford you easy access to the rest of the park. Don't think they have a rental car place at the Lake or anywhere else in the Park.

are there no campgrounds coming from the east??

if the campgrounds inside the park are closed, West Yellowstone offers the closet rv parks to the park.
but I am surprised that the campgrounds are closing that early.

There should be a lot more than fishing bridge open . I was camped there last October and 3/4 of them were open. I like Madison for a modern site . I was there 3 weeks ago and you couldn't find a campsite with any vacancy and we ended up south of YNP at Flagg ranch.
