My wife and I will be taking our daughter and two granddaughters to Yellowstone next year in our Class C motorhome - 24'...Any recommendations/suggestions/advice for camping there?We figure we do not want to stay in an all RV campground. Would prefer being in a more rustic outdoor spot. Do not need electric and can use the gennie a bit during the day to recharge the battery as needed, etc....Thanks, John S.

We like to stay at Madison campground inside the park. Wildlife comes through the campground in evenings.Bakers Hole Natl. Forest Campground is just north of West Yellowstone is another favorite.

Madison, Canyon and Grant worked for us.

With a 24' Class C, you have lots of options. Campgrounds in the park include those that take reservations and those that are first come first serve. Five of the seven first come first serve campgrounds do not allow generators at all. In addition to Baker's Hole outside the West entrance, there are a number of Forest Service campgrounds including some outside the North, Northeast and East entrances of the park.

I like Madison(make Reservations) for touring the bottom loop. Then move to Mammoth Hot Springs to tour the top loop, including Larmar Valley. Mammoth is first come, so arrive mid morning to get a site.
