Yellowstone camping reservations

Just looking at the reservation pages for Madison and bridge bay. Can anyone tell me if a specific site can be reserved? Or do they simply put you in any random available site when you arrive. Also are there some sites at these campgrounds available without a reservation for walk up camping?

    You can request a specific site and the campground supervisor may be able to grant it. They are trying to coordinate the requests of everyone coming and going from sites at different days. We worked at Bridge Bay one summer and it was amazing how much work to try to keep everyone happy and safe.

    You won't get into Fishing Bridge without a reservation. We have friends who tried to go with us this August, but couldn't because they're too long. They were able to made reservations for 2018. Fishing Bridge has very few sites that will handle a RV over 35'.

    No, you cannot reserve a specific site. They will issue you a site that fits when you arrive.

    Call them, it was suggested to me on here that I call them and glad I did. The lady was not in a rush and was very informative. She was however trying to sell an app that takes you through the park but she wasn't forceful with it. I'm so glad I called, very informative.
