We just returned from staying 6 nights at Fishing Bridge in Yellowstone. I actually liked it. Yes, the sites are tight but the location was great within the park.

Also:

• The neighbor campers were always friendly and changing
• Clean bathrooms
• Staff was friendly and helpful

Fishing Bridge is the best place to stay for touring the park. It's the only full hookup in the park if that's what you need. We've seen a lot of parks throughout the country that are a LOT worse than Fishing Bridge. You'll be out touring all day anyway.

We stopped at a county owned CG in Atlantic Iowa that ranks as the worse one we've seen lately. The entire CG was a pool of mud, had to put the truck in 4WD to escape. Checked several sites and could not find one with all three working water,sewer or power utilities. Makes Fishing Bridge look nice.

And as many have pointed out, whatever defects FB has are compensated by the location. It's right on Yellowstone Lake what more could you ask for?

X2 and you can see from my signature we have stayed at many campgrounds - we liked Fishing Bridge - its all about a campground with a great location We stayed there last September for 5 nights

FB is not central at all. You do the park in loops, so any place you stay is just central to that loop. For example it's 31 miles from West Yellowstone to Old Faithful, Old Faithful is 40 miles from Fishing Bridge. From WY to Mammoth 48 miles from FB to Mammoth 48 miles. Really not central at all, they are just as convenient just on different sides of the park. Plus WY has none of the downsides of FB and lots of pluses.

agesllaus we've stayed in many campgrounds, we just got good at picking them. Only in FB did kids bounce footballs off our coach or had a dog try and attack us. Never have we been parked that close to another camper. There are better options, even inside the park.

A few years ago we were at the Sturgis Rally(2nd week Aug) and on a lark, I called Fishing Bridge to see if we could get in ..... they had a cancellation that worked for us. FB is in a central location to tour Yellowstone without the hassle of staying outside the park and commuting in. Sure, the sites are close together, but you are not at FB for the camping experience, but to use it as a base to explore Yellowstone. The rangers also have nightly talks nearby... that all being said, we are going to Grizzly this year for a different experience.

I third Grizzly, it's just outside the gate and just as convenient to the attractions.

First you're packed in like sardines. We had to pull our truck under one of our slides. We were so close to the people behind us I went back to measure. 12 inches between us. The power surges up and down, the water pressure is super high, Kids screaming throwing footballs against people's RV. Loose dogs, a very large dog charged us off leash and I nearly had to shoot it as it was getting ready to take a chunk out of us, but the owner got control of it last minute.

You're better off staying in West Yellowstone if you want full hookups. You do the park in loops, so what is convenient to FB one day is convenient to WY the next.

FB is really horrible.

But if you're set on it, then you can call last minute and probably get a cancellation. We got a spot 1/2 day out. You have to call as they won't put the last minute cancellations on Reserve America.

What everyone else said. It won't hurt to call and ask, but don't plan on it. Grizzly is a great alternative and could possibly have some sites available (all FHU.)

Suggestion instead of asking on here go to their web site or call them and see if the dates you want are available - we stayed in late September last year right before they close and they were full with reservations every night
