  • We stayed at Yosemite Lakes when we were out there two years ago. About five miles from Yosemite. Pretty spotty wi-fi but nice and convenient. Was not impressed with it as it was the most expensive campground on our trip, 20 nights in campgrounds, and was next to the poorest one we stayed in. But it would do in a pinch.

Grizzly RV Park in West Yellowstone is a fine campground.
    I'm afraid you are lost.
Grizzly RV Park is in West Yellowstone, Montana.
    Yosemite is in California.
  • We have stayed at the KOA in Mariposa in order to visit Yosemite. We would much rather stay in the park but reservations are next to impossible to get.
  • Last year, we stayed at Indian Flat RV Park. It is a few miles west of El Portal on Hwy 140. Not far from the west entrance.
    Full hookups.
If you want to use satellite tv, let them know in advance.
They have a lot of trees and there is a tall mtn behind (south) the rv park.
Yosemite gets very busy! I would try to avoid the weekends.
You need to make your reservations wherever, now.

  • I don't remember the KOA as being in Mariposa, but closer in to the park. I don't care for KOA's, but we did a drive thru about a decade ago & it looked pretty good. There is no outstanding FHU facility in the area in my opinion. I recommend the fairgrounds in Mariposa. Was a bit of a challenge to get level and not particularly scenic, but a comparatively easy drive for the RV. And you are definitely going to want to do any driving in the greater Yosemite area in your dinghy. A much prettier location is one of the sites at Lake McClure. There are some 'newer' sites on a plateau overlooking the lake that are beautiful. Water and probably only 30 amp. Sewer dump at the adjacent boat ramp. There are wooded sites in the lower, older campground. I think they are water & electricity. The sites are probably very popular on the weekends.
  • Wife and stayed at Yosemite lakes RV resort a couple weeks ago when we visited Yosemite. It is located on HWY 120 about 25 miles away from Yosemite valley and about 5 miles from the park entrance. Very nice, full hookups(50/30amp), sites are pretty level, has a coded gate so not just anyone can come into the campground. Wifi inside the lodge, had a small selection of DVDs you can borrow for free, very friendly staff available 24 hours, there is a convenience store 1/2 mile up the road that has gas and diesel( which you'll pass going into the campground) and small selection anything you may need. I can't tell you the nightly rate because we are thousand trails and stayed for free. Wife and and I will stay there again when we go back.
  • We stayed at Yosemite Ridge near Groveland. It's a very small park with maybe 20 sites. The sites were nice sized and had good trees around them. They were just adding a pool while we were there. I thought it was a nice, very reasonably priced place to stay. I posted some pictures here: Review

There is a good restaurant next door, but you have to drive 15-20 away to get to a grocery store or more restaurants.
  • I have stayed at Indian Flat many times. Nothing fancy but ti puts you closest to the entrance to Yosemite. Plus, you get to swim in the indoor pool and hot tub next door.
