My wife and I have enjoyed BLM property for a long time. My daughters got into the habit of finding campsites "with character" as they call them. They love boony camping and share it with their friends. Most of those "friends" have never camped anywhere like BLM. My daughters all carry bear spray when they camp. You never know when an upright walking bear will need to get hosed to persuade them to go away.
