I have no burning desire to see the major tourist traps. I would rather slowly travel the side roads and see America.
But the DW and GS probably have different ideas.
My way of thinking.
In 2006 we drove cross country with our little Aliner in tow. Stayed off the interstates and avoided all the major attractions, drove through Valley Forge without stopping. We wanted to see rural America and we did. Never a problem finding a place to stay and never a reservation. In the evening we would map out the next days travel on the secondary roads abd then in the morning as we started, the co-pilot (dw) would say, "look at this off the path road, lets take it" and off we'd go. Only one regret. we were gone three months and shoulda stayed gone six. America is a beautiful country if you look for it.
