Yuma AZ vs Indio CA?

Which do you recommend and why? Best Private RV parks for a senior couple with no kids or pets? We are looking at staying from the middle of Dec to the middle of Feb. Thanks!

The wind turbines can be hard at work west of Palm Springs, and the valley can be quite pleasant at the same time.
  • Truthfully, we have never been in Yuma when it was windy. It's always been nice for us...not to say it doesn't get windy. The whole southwest gets windy at times.
  • There's a reason that the Indio area has all those windmills. :)
  • Indio...Lots of dining, lots of golf, lots of sun, hot in summer, mild seven months of the year, a bit more expensive. Expect wind north of the Interstate.

Yuma...less to do, can visit the prison, close to Mexico, (Los Algodones for dental work) lots of golf, lots of sun, lots of wind, lots of sand and of course the nearby airport...less expensive than Palm Springs/Palm Desert/Indio/Indian Wells/Bermuda Dunes.....Dennis
  • If you mean you want a no-kids-pets park, there's only one I'm aware of.. Happy Wanderer, next to Fantasy Springs casino in Coachella.

I'd choose Indio over Yuma any day.
  • OK, have done both.

We found Indian Waters in Indio a couple of years ago...stayed there 2 weeks, then a month last year and have booked 6 weeks for mid Dec til early Feb later this year and 2016. Very reasonable for that time of year and a nice, clean, friendly place. So we agree with post above.

And LOTS to do in that area - LOTS.

We have stayed in Yuma at The Palms and fantastic / beautiful place. Downside to Yuma is just not that much to do around there. We go up and drive KOFA and all and do some hiking. But The Palms has things going on there. We might stop for about 5 days or so returning from Indio next Feb.
  • We like the Indio/Palm Springs area more than Yuma. We stay in membership parks. Can't recommend a private Park, but have heard good reviews about the Indian Waters park mentioned in the previous post.
  • We like Indio. We like Indian waters RV Park. Yuma? Not much there. Date farms etc in Indio, better shopping in Indio. Actually shopping is couple of miles west of Indio. We stayed in Yuma 2 weeks during Feb and hated it. Heavy tfc noise and aircraft noise from military base and not a lot to do.
