Yuma boondocking

If you want close to Yuma, the BLM 14 day area (FREE) behind the VFW on US 95 is great. Remember go in with full fresh water tank and empty waste tanks. No dump or potable water at this site.

North of Yuma is Quartsite, and you can stay free out in the desert north of town on the east side. If you stay longer on BLM land, you'll have to get a permit, but their are quite cheap and good for the whole season.

In January, only several hundred thousand RVs are parked out in the desert around Quartsite. You won't believe it until you see it in person. They start to disperse in February.

While visiting friends in the Foothills just east of Yuma, I see a lot of boondockers of the South Frontage Road. gps 32.663078,-114.386523

If you're deaf, maybe. That's the noisiest place I've ever been with traffic, trains and aircraft.

I'd suggest the ... BLM 8 miles west at the freeway and Sidewinder road.. just past the checkpoint. I can't remember its name but it's here: 32.742165,-114.758305

Thanks.. good to know. I like to visit Mickey B's club and that's very close.

lol that's true 2oldman. It was not very quiet back there...we camped all the way back by the trees. That's also where the homeless people decided to come. They camped in their car.


where we are now on Ogilby is packed with RV's, and it's fairly quiet, but the trains run almost constantly. Getting almost used to it by now lol

I think the place 2oldman is suggesting may be called Pilot Knob. Water and an RV sanitation dump station are nearby on Sidewinder at the Shell station (760-572-2053). The Shell also sell propane at a reasonable rate.

I was just commenting on the one over by the VFW :) and where I am now...
