Yuma boondocking

Am new to boondocking. Wife and 5 mini dachshunds would like to try. Thinking about arriving first of upcoming week staying through Saturday.

Where would you recommend we go first time round? If we succeed.... will decide on generator or solar. Have 30ft. fvr.

Thanks for the suggestions.

  • North of Yuma is Quartsite, and you can stay free out in the desert north of town on the east side. If you stay longer on BLM land, you'll have to get a permit, but their are quite cheap and good for the whole season.

In January, only several hundred thousand RVs are parked out in the desert around Quartsite. You won't believe it until you see it in person. They start to disperse in February.
  • If you want close to Yuma, the BLM 14 day area (FREE) behind the VFW on US 95 is great. Remember go in with full fresh water tank and empty waste tanks. No dump or potable water at this site.
