Yuma

Where is the best place to winter in Yuma in your opinion?
pros & cons welcome. Thanks.
  • This will be our 7th winter in Yuma...we like it so well that we bought our own place out in farm country.
We started our first season in an RV park in the Foothills section (East) of Yuma County...we lasted a month. After touring the Foothills, we found a large, FHU private lot for rent for way less than the RV park. These lots usually accommodate 2 RV's, but are huge by comparison to parks...130-160'x65'.
I might suggest you book a site in any Foothills RV park (just google Yuma RV parks) for 1 month, then tour Yuma, the Foothills, other RV parks, downtown, etc., to see what suits you best. Maybe you'll like the amenities offered by RV parks, maybe you'll like the relative privacy of a fenced/gated private lot.

As for the wind, Yuma has a few days that are ugly, it is in the Sonoran Desert....other places in AZ are worse, Casa Grande for instance. AZ air quality.
The terrible water is no joke, but the entire Colorado River Valley is plagued by bad water....plan on buying drinking water, it's cheap.

    More questions ?

    Regards
    Gemstone
  • In the foothills you can find private lot sites. which may or may not fit you. No community activities, no pool, etc. Yuma is windy and dusty at times. The water is worse than bad. If you go use plastic water connectors. It will ruin all your brass fittings.
  • The Palms, Country Roads. Lot's of private lots and Parks. There are many options depending on $$. Pro's lots of activities, con's, lot's of retirees at those activities, just kidding. Try it!
  • I think Cocopah is the ONLY place to winter in Yuma.

Yuma can be dusty and hot.
  • It depends entirely on what you want to do. We wintered for nine years at Cocopah Resort, which has an 18-hole golf course. They also have a large pool, tennis courts and lots of other activities.
