No, the emena tube will go in near Cold Lake, Alberta, Canada. Proof??? Many people from Cold Lake snowbird in Yuma and think it is the best place going? :R. This includes a good freind who loves it there.

Personally, I'll stick with Gold Canyon, AZ! Great scenery, lots to do, relatively clean air. Water is not great, but who cares when you have an RO.

To each his own,,, we have been going to Yuma for 4 yrs, can't wait to get back,, love the area,the friendly people,the warm weather,. We stay about 6 miles out of town,small rv park with real grass,surounded by green fields,,close to the river,,kind of like being in Idaho,but with no snow or cold,,

WE are heading to Yuma ...1 st time getting away for the WHOLE winter, 6 months worth, for us and really looking forward to it.

So it gets a little windy ?? So it might get in the 40 F range ??

Where I am from as an example the snow hit Oct 11 2012 and never left until the last weekend in April 2013 !!! We have hit temps at low as -44F (that is right --below zero)

We wintered there for 6 years and loved it. Would probably still be dragging a trailer all the way from Ontario Canada back there today had we not been required to be within a direct flight home to respond to an aging MIL with frequent health problems.

We ended up in Florida that winter and property prices were so good we bought a home. The RV and custom Toter got sold as soon as we returned home to Canada the spring of '10'.

While in Yuma, we enjoyed the ease of driving around, golfing, dune cruising, mine exploring, desert hiking and Harley riding all over the place.

There's lots to do there if you simply read the trades papers for scheduled events.

The dust was of some concern due to allergies but certainly didn't make the place a deal breaker for us. We used a double cannister filter package on our RV so neither drinking nor laundry was a concern.

"No ocean"....finally an honest objection to Yuma, not based on hearsay, innuendo, false information or because somebody's cousin's brother-in-law, had indigestion in Yuma 40 years ago....have a nice winter on the coast in Mexico!

No ocean, that is my complaint about it, which is why I head south.

We also have a place in Yuma that we've been wintering over for 6 years. For the whole time that I've been a member of this forum, there are always quite a few members that disparaged or make bad comments about Yuma. As with all the other Yuma winter residents, those naysayers can say all the "negatives" about our winter place, I/we don't care. Stay away and enjoy the place that suits you fine. And we'll do the same - enjoy what we've been enjoying so far!

Well, I need to reply. I'm new here, but a pretty active person on camping groups on the internet.

We live in Yuma, and have had 3 properties in Yuma. We had a lot in the Foothills which doubled our investment. Didn't do that in Phoenix. We are in Yuma East, a 55+ manufactured home neighborhood that is affordable ($35 annual fee-don't let your property look junky and we will watch it if you are away for the summer. Nice!)

We fly RC (Yep! Chicks Fly Too!). We fly every day-almost never get rained out. And, we did have one morning that got blown out so far this year. Very friendly AMA club, Yuma Aeromodelers. Nice in the summer as there are usually just 5-8 flyers, so you fly a lot. When it gets really busy in the winter, we go early, or go to desert flying areas.

You know what they say-it's a dry heat. Well, it is. It's wonderful weather from about end of Sept until end of May. Then, it warms up. You just plan your day around that. We go up in altitude (like Williams or Flagstaff) for a bit in the summer. But, we Do have air conditioning, so it isn't a problem staying the summer.

It does seem that more and more are staying the summer. However, the traffic is never that heavy even when it's busy in the winter. Better shopping all the time. Not a lot of culture, but it's a very nice town, and quite safe. It's an area of 'quite safe' border-lots of military here.

The water? I didn't know we had a problem until I read this thread.

Mexico? We're going to Algodones this week for dental.

We just sold a house right down the mountain from Jerome (looked out our kitchen window at the town), across the Verde Valley from Sedona, Az. We bought there because it's a wonderful area. But...it was colder than we thought it'd be, and hotter than we thought it'd be. And, other stuff. We didn't care for it as much as we thought we would, and we found we liked Yuma more than we thought we did.

They are in the Foothills area on the south frontage road east of Yuma. It's a really active park with lots of activities. It's about one block west of Payson on South frontage. We don't live in that park but anyone we talk to who does loves it. Here is their web site.

Sister park...sorry can't find much info on it except their website which is not the best.
