Zephyrhills insight?

I have already checked RV park reviews & this site. I am hoping for some additional insight into this area.

Where are the railroad tracks? Which roads are noisiest? Which RV parks are near grocery stores & restaurants?

For those who have visited several parks in the area, how would you rank them in comparison to each other, keeping the trains, road noise & distance from conveniences in mind.

I have looked at the individual websites and most look decent. We will want 55+, 50 amp, FHU & a heated pool. Most seem to have those.

In short, I am looking for a way to better narrow our search with these additional requirement in mind. Thanks!
  • This is the one time I really did find the iphone usefull.

Just plug in the CG address in google maps and then ask it for walmart gas station, drug stores or whatever.

What is cool is it gives you the name of the store, directions, name, miles AND phone number. Both in google earth view and regular line by line directions. With the google earth view you can see at a glance just how much stuff is around your CG.
  • A little Segway, if you get up to Dade city while you are in Zhills go to a restaurant called "Lunch on Limoges". Its right down town and the food is fantastic. I had the best corned beef I ever had there. Was told they make their own right there. Pecan crusted chicken is wonderful too. Enjoy.
  • Basically the main street (e/w) street in ZH going north has the restaurants,
businesses and Wallyworld is on the north end of town. Bakers Acres is the nearest RV park to that end. No train tracks to worry about there.

South of town, about 2 miles east of US301 is a train track... trains run maybe every 3-4 hours during the night. Several nice parks on Chancey Rd.

Majestic Oaks, Emerald Pointe are both very nice parks, 55/over.
  • We have a Park Model at the Forest Lake RV Resort.. been going here for about 8 years and love it there! Train tracks are along the east side but after a short stay we no longer 'hear' the trains going by. We are about a mile from the centre of town but (while our park is easily accessible) it is fairly quiet without a lot of traffic. Centrally located in Florida so within a few hours of all the tourist destinations. PM me if you need more info.
  • I haven't stayed at any of the RV parks but DW's DD lived in Zephyrhills till this past August. The WalMart is on the north end of town also a Sweetbay grocery and a Publix are along that commercial strip. It's a nice town that welcomes snowbirds, I believe the population triples in winter. They seem to have some activity every weekend during the season. The restaurants all have decent prices and good food.
