Zion to Arches National Park

Everyone's given plenty of great ideas of places to visit. In S. Utah not only Is the destination the thing, but getting there is the thing as well. Distances between these destinations will seem vast, but the scenery you'll experience is to die for, especially hwy 12 between Escalante and Torrey. Enjoy.

Be forewarned, Sep/Oct is high season. Most RV parks will be busy. I plan my route and always make reservations.

Here are links to some of the places we have visited and enjoyed. There is a lot to see along UT-12 that you will not see by just driving through. We have spent weeks in the area and not seen everything.

In addition to Gouldings, there are two RV Parks in Bluff and one in Mexican Hat that are a bit of a drive to Monument Valley, but more centrally located for visiting all the attractions listed above.

A suggestion - consider putting your RV/towed description in your signature so we can see what you have for recommending RV sites. I see from a previous post that you do have a 35' motorhome so going by that:

Zion - stay in the park at Watchman campground; electric and water fill/dump station

Bryce - in the park - dry camping or just outside the park at Ruby's complex.

Capitol Reef - in the park - dry camping or a handful of full hookup parks just outside

Moab - in the park - dry camping or many just outside the park

Canyonlands - can easily do Arches and Canyonlands from the Moab area or there Dead Horse State Park at Canyonlands itself - gorgeous views

Canyonlands - Needles area - dry camping in the park

Monument Valley - Gouldings RV for full hookups is the only only close

Utah Highway 12 between Bryce and Torrey, UT (Capitol Reef NP) is one of our favorite drives. Just don't try to make up time. Take it easy and enjoy the views. Some nice places to stop for picnic lunch.

Don't miss Capital Reef NP -- middle of Utah - some great hikes and agricultural history. This is a 'do not miss' in Utah.

No reservations, so get there early for a site ... OR, right down the road two boon-docking areas that stay pretty full and are easy access, but always have room for a night or two.

What an amazing place, couple suggestions but most of the park literature will guide you on what you need to see...

Portal RV park, top notch great location in Moab.

If there was one thing I would not miss while in Zion would be the hike through the narrows. It requires special gear that is well worth the cost of the rental. Google the narrows hike and it will get you started.

Renting a jeep in Moab is also a blast, there are several awesome 4x4 trails that will take your breath away. Or if you have little 4x4 experience take a guided tour with Dan Mick, he is the man as far as tours and information.

A great side trip is to a place called Cedar Breaks outside Bryce Canyon. its in the area and great for a day trip to drive there.

If your going in that time frame it may be busy due to the pumpkin chucking event in Moab. Plan accordingly.

Any specific things to or see?

Bryce Canyon, Canyonlands, Mesa Verde National Parks and Monument Valley. While you're in the area take in the Grand Canyon and Antelope Canyon.
