That is correct. When we migrated the 250K users from RV.net we had to pick between the 2.9 million posts and replies or all personal messages. We choose the posts and replies.

Well I always wondered how many users RV.net had and now I know. 🙂
Water under the bridge now, but it would have been nice to have had some advance warning that the PM's were all being deleted.
I asked dedmiston on the old rv.net general forum, if our PMs would be transferred to new forum. He replied in bold, "I just checked with new forum administration, and they said NO, our current PMs will be gone."
So...anyone that was following that forum announcement would have had about 3 days to save their own PMs. I know...not easily done, if you had many pages of them.
